May the 7th 1685, Major Willett to be Capt of a troope of horse dated the 9th of Aprill 1684. Tho: Wandell to be his leiut Francis Doughty to be his cornett. Thos Steavens to be Quarter'r all of the same date and Sent d'n to the same.

May 12 1685, Com then sent to John Young Junior for Southhold to be Leiut Arnold being Capt and a blank for Ensigne sent Doune the same time dated both ye 9 Aprill.

Commission granted to Cornelis Coursen to be Capt. of a Company at Broockland April the 9th 1685 delivered by Mr. Vaughten; Jarvis Baxter May 6 to be Major of the foot and horse forces of Albany, Renslaerwick, Scanunectade and the whole County of Albany.

June 15. Major Patrick Magregoire to be Muster Master for the city and provence of New York, with instructions for a tour of review and inspection through the province

Instructions for a tour of the Province.

You are to go through the Governm't of New York and its Dependencyes and in every towne the Chiefe officer of the militia is to draw out his Company and to muster them and you are to see that all men be fitted with sword musket and Bandoliers fitt for service and also to get a List of the Constables of all men between the age of sixteen and sixty; that they may appeare in theire armes and to give strict order to every officer at their Perils to have their company in good order complete and full; and in the first Reveiew and you are to warn all such as are fitted with swords muskets bandoliers and c. that at the next appearance they be ---- fitted or that otherwise they shall be proceeded against according to Law; and you are to give in charge to all officers to warne those who are not able to bear armes themselves to have in their houses such Provisions as are by Law required.

You are also to leave with the officers the form and method of trayning and diciplining Souldiers and in particular how to handle their arms and how the officers are to behave themselves in the head of their companies, Each Cap't with a Pike and Lieu't with a Partizan and the others according to their office; and all cap'ts are to take care that theire companies be full and that the fees belonging to the Muster Master be gathered by the Cap't and Peid to him and none spared at their Perrills. You are also to bring in a List of each company that soe if they be not full and compleat a due court may be taken with the cap'ts who are also required to show you all courtesy and civility during your aboed with them; the same care is to be taken by you in viewing th horse and a Particular Exact List of them returned by you to mee.

Aug. 30. Hendrick Beakman to be Captain of a troop of horse in the County of Ulster.

Wessel Ten Brook to be Lieutenant of a troop of horse in the County of Ulster whereof Hendrick Beakman is Captain.

Aug. 30. Daniel Broadhead to be cornet of a Troop of horse for the County of Ulster, whereof Hendrick Beakman is Captain.

Aug. 30. Anthony Addison to be Quartermaster of a troop of horse for the County of Ulster, whereof Hendrick Beakman is Captain.

Matthias Matthysen to be captain of a foot company for Kingstowne and New Paltz.

Aug. 30. Abraham Hasbrock to be Lieutenant of a foot company for Kingstowne and New Paltz whereof Matthias Matthysen is Captain.

Jacob Rutgers to be Ensign of a foot company for Kingstown and New Paltz, whereof Matthias Matthysen is Captain.

Aug. 30. John Biggs to be Lieutenant of a foot company in Hurly Marbletown and Mombaccus whereof Thomas Garton is Captain.

Aug. 30. Charles Broadhead to be Ensign of a foot company in Hurly Marbletown and Mombaccus whereof Thomas Garton is Captain.

Oct. 14. Hendrick Cuyler to be Lieutenant of a foot company for the County of Albany, whereof John Wendall is Captain.
